Jill Cecil is an accomplished artist and educator whose work seamlessly bridges the worlds of visual art and dance. Raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jill discovered her passion for movement and creativity early in life. She earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Art and Dance with a Ballet emphasis from Brigham Young University in 2001. In 2006, she completed a Master of Arts in Dance Education with K-12 certification at New York University.

Jill has taught art and dance in both New York City and Utah public schools, inspiring students with her multifaceted approach to creative expression. Her professional experience includes working with in the education departments of some of the greatest dance companies in New York City, including American Ballet Theatre, Paul Taylor Dance Company, and Gelsey Kirkland Academy of Classical Ballet.

Being a lifelong dancer helps Jill bring a unique sensitivity to her artwork. She is able to capture moments of dynamic energy and intimate humanity of dancers. Her work celebrates each fleeting moment, focusing on the interplay of place, form, color, light, and shadow.

Jill has been honing her skills in the medium of watercolor since college but she also enjoys using a variety of media, including oil, encaustic, gouache, and fiber arts. Her versatility as an artist reflects her creative curiosity and commitment to exploring new forms of expression.

Jill lives and works in New York City. Beyond her artistic pursuits, she is a devoted mother to two young daughters, who inspire her work and creativity every day.
